[You for]the fragrant-blossomed Muses’lovely gifts[be zealous,]
你们是芬芳绽放的缪斯可爱的礼品，
girls,[and the]clear melodious lyre:
女孩们，还有清澈优美的七弦琴：
[but my once tender]body old age now
可是我从前柔美的身体现在已经衰老，
[has seized;]my hair’s turned [white] in－stead of dark;
我浓黑的头发如今已经变白，
my heart’s grown heavy,my knees will not support me,
我的心变得沉重，膝盖已经无法把我支撑，
that once on a time were fleet for the dance as fawns.
它过去带着我像小鹿一样向舞会飞奔。
This state I oft bemoan;but what’s to do?
这样的情形我经常叹息呻吟；可是我能做什么？
Not to grow old,being human,there’s no way.
做为人类，我无法逃脱日益苍老的命运。
Tithonus once,the tale was,rose-armed Dawn,
这是提托诺斯和玫瑰色手臂的黎明女神的故事，
love-smitten,carried off to the world’s end,
他被爱所迷恋，被带到了世界的尽头,
handsome and young then,yet in time grey age
他那时多么年轻和英俊，然而在时光中灰色的苍老
o’er took him,husband of immortal wife.
已经把他摧毁，这个永生妻子的男人。
